About Woodburners

WoodburnerModern woodburners are an energy efficient, cost effective way to heat a home. Many people prefer the coziness of a real fire. New Zealand is fortunate in having a plentiful supply of wood and if you have your own supply your heating costs will be close to zero. Even if you have to buy wood it is still one of the cheapest ways to heat a home.

Woodburners are carbon neutral and don't add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. They merely recycle carbon dioxide. The trees grow and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This absorbed carbon dioxide is released back to the atmosphere when the wood is burnt. This is different to coal burners which release carbon dioxide that was trapped millions of years ago by trees that have subsequently turned to coal over a very long time period.
